One time known as Prairieville, Waukesha received its official name in 1846 when it was designated as the county seat for Waukesha County. Today, the City of Waukesha is one of the largest population centers in Wisconsin.
Waukesha real estate is as diverse as the city's history. With such historic roots, the city has many historic houses. However, as an area that continues to grow, there is a large supply of newer houses and condos too.
Single-family homes are more affordable in Waukesha than in some of its neighbors. Here a person can purchase a house for under $100,000. Although, there have also been a number of homes that have sold in Waukesha for over $500,000.
Condos in Waukesha have a similar range of prices where there have been some that have a sold for under $100,000 while others have gone for around $400,000. Like many markets with larger populations, Waukesha had a number of new condo complexes built in the 2000s.
Waukesha is bordered by Brookfield, New Berlin, Pewaukee, Genesee, Vernon and Mukwonago.
